Ahh, homeownership...

I've been in my new home for less than two weeks and I wish I could say that I'm sleeping soundly by now, but sadly I'm not.  It could be because I still have a room full of boxes to put away or that the morning sun shines brightly through my bedroom window.  In either case, I'm not bothered by it.  I took last week off to unpack, and I actually got pretty far along. The house is actually presentable now...yippee!

I've celebrated a couple of "firsts" in the house already.  I did my first handyman job :) Well, it wasn't much, but I installed an outlet cover in my bedroom for an outlet that didn't have one. Hey, it involved a screwdriver so I consider it a handyman job! LOL

I also mowed my lawn for the very first time this past weekend.  Matthew brought over his lawnmower and demonstrated it for me, and then I took over.  It wasn't so bad!  (Ask me again in 6 months...hee hee).

I also worked from my new office for the first time yesterday. I love my new office! I have a great view, and although it is a bit cold in the morning, I get some great afternoon sunshine, and I even get to watch the sunset while I work on the computer!

Lastly, I have experienced my first Santa Ana in my new home.  Talk about a "welcome to the neighborhood!"  Last week hit 100 degrees and it was a bit warm here to say the least!  I am proud to say, though, that I did not have to turn on my A/C - the house stays nice and cool, especially the downstairs! :)  However, I did give in this afternoon and turned on the heat for the first time. The house maintained a temp of 64 degrees and my hands were so cold I could hardly type, so around 1:00 I turned on the heat. You may think I'm a wimp, but I can handle the heat, just not the cold.  Yeah, yeah, I know I would never survive in the midwest or in New England...that is why I live in San Diego! :)

My freshly mowed backyard :)
